Fiona Rajé is a Research Fellow in the School of Civil Engineering at the University of Birmingham. She has several years’ experience in transport planning and research and, in particular, has carried out a number of projects on transport-related social exclusion. This includes a study of the impacts of congestion charging, upon which the 2004 Transport and Society series volume “Transport, demand management and social inclusion: the need for ethnic perspectives” was based. She has a doctorate from the University of Oxford which provided the basis for her second book “Negotiating the Transport System”. The current project draws on her interest in the lived experience of transport and builds on her experience as a transport planner.
